IDUST is currently in a position to expand our outreach into Central and South America. To achieve wide-spread support for UN resolutions, we need our Spanish speaking neighbors on our side. Damacio Lopez, IDUST's founder and director, is planning a trip in 2007 to Central and South American countries to speak with government representatives in these countries regarding the DU issue and to enlist their support. It is essential that IDUST be able to leave behind pertinent documents and materials in SPANISH so that they can be read and understood clearly by these officials. Please contact us if you can volunteer even a few hours a week at translating IDUST materials from English into Spanish.
IDUST needs adequate funding to pursue our goals of educating the world about DU and conducting research into the health and environmental effects of Depleted Uranium. Please contact us if you are an experienced and successful grant writer to help us locate sources of funding for these projects and to write successful grant applications to obtain these funds.
Contact your representative by phone, fax, email or letter and tell him/her how YOU feel about military use of depleted uranium (DU) in weapons. Several bills have been proposed in the past few years, including Congressman McDermott's bill calling on research into the health hazards posed by depleted uranium. The text of this bill can be found under our "DOCUMENTS" heading (above). Find out if anyone is sponsoring legislation to this effect and get your own representatives to co-sponsor the bills, or, at the very least, to vote in favor of their passage.
Are you interested in helping us to remove depleted uranium weapons and all other radioactive armaments from the world's military stockpiles? If so, you can help us by volunteering your time for research, regardless of your background or experience. The Internet contains an enormous wealth of information, including research reports and government documents that are waiting to be mined. Contact IDUST and tell us where your interest lie. We will then try to fit you into one of our projects with an appropriate match. Contact us by email at:
In pursuing our mission to gather and disseminate information on all aspects of the Depleted Uranium issue, if you have experience or specific knowledge in any of the following areas, IDUST would especially like to hear from you.
Even if all you have is a personal anecdote that relates to depleted uranium, send us an email at:
